"Stamping out Lameness" Seminars
For Veterinarians
Two day seminars tailored for either new and recent graduates or for experienced veterinarians.
This is a workshop for either recent graduates or experienced dairy cattle veterinarians who want to develop their treatment and prevention skills. For recent graduates the seminar will give you the confidence "to have a go".
Many of the practices who sent vets to last year's seminars are sending other vets to this next series. One vet said "I've been a vet for over 20 years - I wish I'd understood about lameness like this before."
If you are wanting to become a Healthy Hoof provider this workshop covers all the basics that you will need to know first before doing the Provider Training.
Covers topics such as :
- How to lift feet safely in all situations
- How to sharpen and handle a knife
- Identifying the main foot lesions
- Treatment of all common types of lameness (theory and practical)
- Causes of each type of lameness
- Practical approach to investigate a lameness problem
- Cow behaviour and lameness
- Handling cattle to prevent lameness
- Shed design and track construction to prevent lameness
- Intravenous anaesthesia
- Applying cowslips
These are held twice each year in Inglewood.
2010 December seminar dates:
- New and Recent Graduates: To be announced.
- Extra seminars or seminars for more experienced vets can be arranged at other times if enough people are wanting them. Just contact us.
